Ants!!!

Ants!!!

Sadie and I were going on a walk the other day, and I noticed this heart image; however it looked like it was moving.  After getting a closer look I was surprised it was a colony of red ants.  My first reaction was… “Gross!”  Why is it a dog’s reaction to try to eat them? “Super Gross!” For All U ant lovers, don’t worry no ants were harmed in taking this photo.  I pulled back on the leash just in time. After doing a little research online, I discovered quite often a colony of ants will gather like this while they clean house and/or move. I did not notice any of them carrying furniture, so I think they were simply doing some spring-cleaning...

Tar Heart

Tar Heart

This black tar heart was found on the sidewalk near a street that is being repaved. I found it and showed the kids. We thought about how it might have gotten there: 3.5 year old Webster: “I think it was a cement mixer and it dropped black cement and it dried out and made a heart!” 3.5 year old Rowan: “I think it was a dump truck. It dropped black dirt on the sidewalk and maybe it made a heart!” 2.5 year old Zuzu: “That’s silly!” 2 year old Desmond: “Ahhh!” I think they’re all correct!   Megan L. Megan runs a daycare here in MN.  After learning about seeinghearts.com one of her daily activities is sending the kids out on scavenger hunts for...

Yeah… Dryer Lint

Yeah… Dryer Lint

After returning from a walk with Buckles the other morning, I found some dryer lint on the ground in front of our stairs to the deck.  As can be expected, I was quite surprised at this find – dryer lint, really? While on the subject of dryer lint, if lint this size is coming out of my vent outside, it’s a clear indication to clean the vent. Did U know… clothes dryers are a leading cause of fires in the home – approximately 15,000 every year. I strongly suggest, add cleaning your dryer vent to your family’s home spring-cleaning list. Safety...

Remaining Snow

Remaining Snow

Flash back about 3 weeks ago, it was the first week of May and we just received about 6 inches of snow. As expected this snow melted very quickly. When I went out to get the mail, I noticed there was only a little snow left and it was hiding in the shadow of my neighbors tree.  When I realized it was shaped as a heart I went to get my phone to get a picture. “Last of the snow and it’s shaped as a heart; it hides, just waiting for me to seek, find and appreciate before it melts away.” I’m so glad to have learned to find joy in appreciating the simple things in life.  The amazing thing is, the more U recognize and appreciate them the more they appear.  ...
